ANIMA I
Material : Paper
Robotic : PATHOS tools
Anima I is part of a series of responsive robotic artworks that explore one of the defining traits of animal life: the ability to move. It was designed during a collaborative process between the Robotics Aesthetics and Usability Center (RAUC) at ETH Zurich and the Zoological Museum of Zurich. With a precise geometric system of searing and twisting the surface, the oval shaped sheet of paper is transformed into an organic and three-dimensional form. The color palette and light reflections are inspired by underwater creatures; as well as the behavior: when danger is close, the creature becomes flat and appears immobile. Anima I, is the first of a series of living expressions, towards building an infinite lexicon of nuanced, poetic physical behaviors that can be applied to inanimate objects.
